The 10,000 Hours Show Looking for Student Leaders
The 10,000 Hours Show is a student organization that recruits volunteers to do at least 10 hours of service in their local community and as recognition for this work, we hold a volunteers-only concert. We are looking for student leaders to serve in the roles of Finance Director and Events Director as well as do recruitment for the organization. If you are interested in learning more about this organization and the leadership opportunities, please email us at isu10k@gmail.com.
ISU Fall Leadership Conference Student Keynote Speaker Needed
On Tuesday, October 5, 2010, the first ever ISU Fall Leadership Conference will be held. This collaborative leadership event will be hosted by the Student Activities Center, Catt Center for Women & Politics, Office of Greek Affairs, Engineering Leadership Program, Department of Residence, Inter-Residence Hall Association, Student Alumni Leadership Council, Government of the Student Body, Catt Associates and Freshmen Council. We are looking for one student to serve as the keynote speaker for this event. Please feel free to nominate an outstanding student at this link. Nomination forms are due Friday, August 27.

Have you been looking for ways to get involved on campus? The Government of the Student Body currently has position openings in GSB Senate, Finance Committee, Election Commission, and a large number of university committees spanning a wide range of issues. ClubFest Registration Available August 20
Registration will open August 20 at 10am for this fall’s ClubFest, which will be Wednesday, September 8 at the Memorial Union. Only half tables will be available this year to accommodate as many organizations as possible, and all tables are on a first come first serve basis. This is a great opportunity for your organization to recruit new membership and increase awareness of your activities. ISU’s Get a Yes Campaign
Iowa State University strives to create a respectful and safe environment free from sexual misconduct. The University’s Sexual Misconduct Policyprohibits sexual misconduct in any form, including sexual assault or sexual abuse, sexual harassment, and other forms of nonconsensual conduct such as relationship violence or stalking. Student leaders have the responsibility to respond to all allegations of sexual misconduct by informing the Dean of Students office at 515-294-1020 or dso-sas@iastate.edu. Confidential help is available 24/7 at (515) 29-ALERT. To learn more about ISU’s “Get A Yes” campaign to end sexual misconduct, or to schedule an interactive educational presentation for your club, email heart@iastate.edu.
YTD Financial Statements to Advisers
YTD financial statements were recently mailed from Campus Organizations Accounting. Although the monthly statement ran correctly, the YTD statements didn’t bring the balance forward information, so the ending balances are incorrect. The file was corrected and is being re-run by the university Information Technology department and new statements will be mailed out in the next two weeks.
Treasurer Training WebCT Ready in Mid-August
Campus Organizations Accounting Office is working on the treasurer training course available on WebCT. It won’t be available for the next couple of weeks, but we can take your name and user ID and add you to the training when it is finished and ready.
GSB Allocation Review Process
The Campus Organizations Accounting Office is beginning reviews of the spending of GSB allocated funds. The review, along with the YTD statements, will be placed in your treasurer file by August 31 if you were allocated funds through GSB Regular Allocations, Special Allocations or a GSB Senate Bill.

Dance Marathon First Annual Golf Tournament
Dance Marathon is hosting its first annual golf tournament "Swinging for Miracles" on Friday, August 27, 2010 with a shotgun start at 12:30pm. The golf tournament will be held at the Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny, Iowa. It is open to everyone.
