Maria Lux: Drawings & Paintings
Maria Lux uses the traditional media of oil paint and chalk pastel to explore images of subtle humor, absurdity, and excess in American life. She is interested in the tension between the desire to enjoy these subjects, and the responsibility to be critical of their excess alongside more serious global issues. Recurring images in her work include marching bands, fairs and festivals, grocery store scenes, and dogs.

Lux is an Ames native and an ISU alum.  She is pursuing a Masters Degree at the University of Illinois.
